Ned levde ett lyckligt liv odlande ekologiska grönsaker på en gård med sin hippie-flickvän och hans hund som heter Willie Nelson, men en olycklig incident med marijuana på en marknad får honom i fängelse. När han kommer ut ur fängelset, åker han för att leva med hans systrar. Medan Ned fortfarande är lycklig, är hans systrar olyckliga och efter att han lyckas klantar till ett bröllop, en jobbmöjlighet, en spirande relation och ett inhemsk partnerskap. Han ser de problemen som avbrott i kommunikationen, men hans systrar ser honom som en idiot.
